If you’re worried about meeting your debt repayments, please give us a call as soon as you can on 0800 808 065. The earlier you call, the earlier we can consider what we can do to help. Our team are friendly and understanding and have helped many people recover from financial difficulty and get back on track.
Financial hardship
What is hardship and who's eligible?
If the reason behind your financial difficulty is an unexpected change in your personal circumstances, like the loss of your job, an illness or a relationship breakdown, you may be eligible for the statutory hardship process.
If you are eligible, you can ask us to make changes to your loan – like short-term repayment relief or restructuring your loan so you have longer to pay.
If you think you may be eligible, it important that you apply as soon as possible, because time limits do apply.
How to apply
To make a hardship application, please send us an email or write us a letter to:
Post
Avanti Finance Limited
Private Bag 11 917
Ellerslie
Auckland 1542

Your email or letter should include:
- your contact details
- an explanation of the reasons for your financial difficulty
- how much you think you could afford in repayments each week, fortnight or month (taking your new circumstances into account)
- for how long you think you might need any new arrangement to be in place
You should also give us any supporting documentation you think might be relevant to your application.
If you’re having difficulties with your application, please give one of the team a call on 0800 808 065.
How long does it take?
We always aim to provide support as quickly as we can, but here’s an idea of when you can expect to hear from us after we receive your application:
- We’ll acknowledge receipt within 5 working days
- If we need more information we’ll ask for it within 10 working days
- We should be able to confirm our decision within 20 working days (although this may take longer if we’ve asked for more information)
What if I’m not eligible?
Remember, even if you’re not eligible for the statutory hardship process, our team may still be able to help. Give us a call on 0800 808 065 as soon as you can and we can try and find a solution together.
